A checklist for Robot use at NE-CAT
This checklist includes items for both preparation prior to arrival at NE-CAT and while using the robotic sample automounter. Information provided is supplemental and is not a substitute for proper training.

IMPORTANT
CrystalCap ALS
(HR4-779) and
CrystalCap SPINE HT
(HR8-112) bases are the preferred bases for use with the Robot.

The Robot accepts only ALS-style Pucks and
Unipucks
. Unipucks are non-ideal. Chances for sample loss are higher with Unipucks.

Notify NE-CAT staff so that the Robot can be prepared prior to your arrival.
Notify NE-CAT staff if you need to borrow pucks.
The Robot accepts only ALS-style Pucks and
Unipucks

The Robot prefers ALS-style Pucks. Sample loss is higher with Unipucks.
No bases with ledges are allowed. See
acceptable bases
.
All pins must be 18mm in length.
All bases must be dry prior to loading into cryopucks.
Crystals frozen in propane (propane lollipops) cannot be used with the Robot.
You need to load your samples into cryopucks prior to Robot use.
Load pucks at home institution

You must be trained in using the Robot. Minimum 1 hour.
Training includes:
Loading pucks into the Robot dewar.
Unloading pucks.
Robot software use.

Performing any of these actions could cause collisions between the Robot and the MD2.
Do not move the cryostream.
Do not move the base thawing accessory.
Do not move the auxilliary LED lights.
Do not touch the MD2 GUI while the Robot is BUSY.
Do not check beam location or sample centering while the Robot is in Park psition.
Do not re-start the Robot.
Do not re-boot the Robot Server.
